Stilly broody

Lara is still sitting on eggs. She stoped on Wednesday but was back at it on Thursday and has been fiercely guarding them since.

At the moment there are six under her. Not sure how fertile they would be considering the dad was culled a week ago. If anyone can enlighten me on that it would be great.

They could be fertile. Hens can hold onto rooster sperm for a while. You should be able to tell by candling them by now (if you can get them off her). Compare with a egg that hasn't been incubated/ from the fridge if you are not sure what to look for, or look online, theres heaps of info.

She pecks the crap out of us we try and get at them. I tried moving the one sticking out and she pecked at me, then when I got a stick to try and push it under her she grabbed the stick.
I'll give it a few more days and give a go at the candeling.
