It's my 1st Blogversary!

My how time flies when your having fun.
What a year it has been. So much has happened and sew much has been learned in the sewing/quilting front.
When I first started here a year ago I had no clue when it came to quilting.Through my endeavours I also learned my sewing knowledge and skills were somewhat simple and lacking in flare. However as it is with me when I strive into the unknown I do it through a lot of self taught lessons be it the hard way that's how I learn best. I still am yet to take a single quilting or sewing class.
I first learnt to sew back in high school, the last textiles class I was in was 19yrs ago and I really did not pay that much attention to any technique. I just got in a sewed up some very ugly looking things just to get through the class.
This time last year I could sew very basic things for my daughter and even then I usually would have to mend it a bit after first wash. I did not even know what top stitching was but I love finishing of stuff with it now. Pretty much most of my spare time now is spent sitting behind my machine.
Now I have friends and family requesting things from me all the time. There have been a few things I have sewn for Jazynthe that she has worn somewhere and I get asked where I bought it from. When I tell friends or complete strangers I made it I get asked or told to make more and sell it to them or others.

One of a few reversable wrap skirts I'll be selling.
Now that is exactly what I will start doing. As of this coming weekend my hobby will start reaping some monetary rewards.....which will end up being spent on more fabric.

Fabric is another thing I've come a long way in. I fall so easily in love with so many fabrics now it's not funny. A year ago I had no clue about Micheal Miller, Amy Butler, Heather Bailey just to name a few.

Some headbands I made for myself.
I've had a few requests from neighbours and friends for crayon and pencil rolls for their kids and this is what I have sewn up so far.

Leave a comment and you'll go in the draw to either win first or second prize in my giveaway. Some of the things I have in mind are magazines, patterns, handmade items, fabric, notions. The prize will depend on who wins and the prize will be appropiate for that person and or their brood.

I know what you mean about how much you learn. I've done a lot of lurking since i joined the eb forums, haven't had a lot of time to put in the practise. I love looking through blogs and seeing the change in style and quality as the year or so progress's.

Well done!
